A tropical low to form near the North Tropical Coast and move eastwards into the Coral Sea during the weekend.

• A tropical low (06U) may form off the north tropical coast of Queensland early in the weekend and move eastwards, away from the Queensland coast during Sunday and Monday.
• The chance of 06U intensifying into a tropical cyclone is considered Low (5%) late Friday.
• Throughout the weekend, the likelihood increases slightly, reaching a Low (15%) chance of the system strengthening to tropical cyclone intensity.
• By Tuesday, 06U is expected to be in the eastern Coral Sea, where conditions will become less conducive to development, reducing the risk of it being a tropical cyclone to Very Low.
• Although 06U may not strengthen to tropical cyclone intensity, heavy rainfall and strong, gusty winds are still expected along the northern tropical coast of Queensland into the weekend.
